  • gainsayers Tit 1:9

  • teachers of the commandments of men Tit 1:10; Tit 1:14

  • those who "withstand"...."the preaching" 2Ti 4:14-15; 2Ti 4:17

  • who [always? Act 7:51] resist the truth 2Ti 3:8

  • those who look righteous but are not 2Ti 3:5, Tit 1:16, 2Co 11:14-15, Jud 1:12, Mat 13:25, Mat 7:15, Act 20:29

  • rejecters of sound [Biblical -- see 2Ti 3:13-17] doctrine - 2Ti 4:3

  • and who in dealing with the above, Paul counsels in Tit 2:15 to "exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee" [for you speak in the authority of Christ ... words in the [ ] are my words not Paul's words, but I feel is implied by the definition of sound doctrine (Tit 2:1) being Biblical truth (see 2Ti 3:13-17, 2Ti 1:13, Heb 3:6; Heb 3:14, 2Ti 4:3)]

    2 Timothy 4:14-15

    14 Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works: 15 Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

    2 Timothy 4:17

    17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.

    Acts 7:51

    51 Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye.

    2 Timothy 3:8

    8 Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.

    5 Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

    2 Corinthians 11:14-15

    3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;
